Mile High

My good friend Billy, aka VJ Valujet performs every Saturday night at an event called Mile High. Every week they have a new great poster, and in a continuous attempt to make new work I volunteered to give it a go. This is what I've got.

Honey Feat.

This is the first of three department spreads that I'm working on. The topic is honey, and though it may not look like it, this took a lot of effort and time.

Editorial Design-Feature

These are some potential layouts for my first feature. Of course I chose an article on chocolate chip cookies! One of my great weaknesses (along with Mr. Pattinson) and I simply cant resist them- so I thought this was suiting.

Suny Shoot- Avedon Lighting

These were taken during our second shooting day for my portraiture class. This time we each got a chance to play the role of photographer, assistant, AND model. This was the first time I shot somebody who wasnt a professional model and it made me appreciate how models know how to pose to make the photographer's life easier. I used Avedon style lighting for most of the shoot, then switched to silhouette.

Updated Crumbs Poster

After some helpful feedback and simply 'sitting on it' for awhile I have reached a final version of the Crumbs poster. Im glad I took the time because as always, the little changes made a big difference.

Tomo Photo Shoot

In my portraiture class we did a lighting assignment and got to work with some great models. I liked it much more than I ever thought I would, and I am pleased with the results.

Crumbs Poster

Back in high school I chose food to be the subject for my AP art portfolio. I did many paintings and drawings of foods from Brazil and it was one of the most fun projects I've ever worked on. A few years ago I purchased a couple of prints from a RISD alum. who specialized in paintings of every day foods such as JIF peanut butter and Wonder Bread and whose work reminded me of my own. They now hang in my kitchen and I absolutely love them. Given that I now work at Crumbs I started thinking that a painting glorifying one of their cupcakes could make for a nice poster. I used the paintings in my kitchen as inspiration, and of course the famous Crumbs cupcakes.

Photograph a friend-or two!

For my portraiture class we were to photograph a friend in such a manner that would reveal how we feel about them. I spent part of my shift at Crumbs photographing two friends who I see primarily at work. Laura and Stephanie humbly accepted to be my subjects for this project.  Most of the shots from that day were spontaneous and unplanned so as to capture our day to day interaction- at work getting to know each other! Below are some of my favorites.
